Here's where the Australian car auction market stands heading into the week of 29 June 2026. Every figure below is a snapshot of live auction stock at the time of writing — supply by state, price, mileage and fuel — to help buyers, dealers and fleet managers plan the week ahead.

Volume snapshot

12,710 vehicles are live at auction across Australia this week — 8,223 used/non-salvage cars (64.7%) and 4,487 salvage (35.3%). The split below sets the baseline for everything that follows: the price, mileage and fuel breakdowns all describe the used segment.

Auction volume by state

Supply is concentrated in the eastern states. NSW leads at 32.7%, then VIC (22.7%) and QLD (20.6%). Together the top three account for 76% of everything at auction — if you're only covering one state, you're seeing a fraction of the market.

Suggested bid ranges — used cars

Pricing sits mostly in the mid-market: 82.3% of used cars carry a suggested bid under $30,000, and the biggest band is $10k–$30k at 51.2%. 31.1% are under $10k and 17.7% sit above $30k — the thinner top end is where premium and near-new stock lives.

Mileage breakdown — used cars

Used stock skews toward higher mileage — 40.2% sits above 150,000 km. Only 13% is under 20,000 km; low-mileage cars at auction pricing are where margin gets made, so that band is worth watching closely each week.

Fuel breakdown — used cars

Petrol still dominates the used segment at 58%, with diesel at 39.3%. Electric and hybrid together make up just 2.6% of auction supply — a reminder that despite headlines, the auction lane is still overwhelmingly internal-combustion.
